I know the majority of people will say this but I believe it’s the Internet. The Internet has allowed us to communicate easier. We can now chat or speak to someone living thousands of miles away just by a touch of a button. It helped people incapable of communication verbally (either because of disability, personality or illness) to reach out. Information is now disseminated quickly because of the Internet. Gone were the days where you have to go to the library for your research. Almost everything now can be found on the Net. It opened a lot of opportunities to invent new things. Like the smartphone, voice assistants like Alexa and Siri. I don’t think GPS and Satnavs will be in existence if it was not for the Internet.

Most companies and business have gone paperless so almost everything can be access and stored online. This has helped in saving trees and protecting the environment. It made our lives easier. You can now control your home remotely, for example, using an app on your phone to turn the heating on in your homes. Children and adults can now play video games with someone from another country.

The Internet is not a perfect invention it has its downsides too. It affected physical human interactions as some will prefer chatting or texting from their phones. Misinformation is spreading just as quickly as the facts. The dark web unfortunately stemmed out from the Internet. This enabled drug traffickers and paedophiles to access content online.

Yes the Internet is one of the most important inventions of our lifetime and it is not squeaky clean and immaculate. It should be used carefully and sensibly.
